Who I am
I’m Keifer, I’m a nerd, and I have my custom-built server cluster which runs on my fully configured SOHO network. Using Enterprise edition network switches and components, this is not limited to the NAS I built and implemented in my network.
I work with multiple different media types, including, but not limited to Windows, Linux, Raspberry pi and Android. Now with that being said, the skills attached to all of that are hardware and software skills, from the construction and installation of software to the implementation and configuration of NFSs and network access.
For example, I made this website, to make a website I didn’t know how but I figured it out. I bought a domain name, then I decided I wanted to self-host it on my server (99% uptime), then I designed it.
I love it, I truly do. It’s what makes me happy, to be able to nerd out is the best. Given the right opportunities the things I can learn are never-ending, when I hear about a new type of tech or something I haven’t tried to do yet I dive deep into it and not only learn about it but find a way to incorporate it into my daily life.
When I wanted to learn Linux, I installed multiple VMs on my computers and used only those to accomplish my daily work. This encouraged me to not only learn it but to use it.
My Story
I have an incredible ability to learn skills and jobs faster than most
and I learn and perform best under pressure.
I have worked for some rather large companies and during my time with them I have personally accomplished what most expected to be impossible. At my current workplace, I have eliminated downtime of equipment and implemented in-house manufacturing of 3d printable parts. I’m in charge of 3 staff members and can delegate work to them in a timely and
managerial capacity.
At Bombardier I successfully moved the initial power on station, two stations ahead by reorganizing the order in which the job books were completed. this meant co-coordinating with multiple engineers and upper management to implement the required changes.
At Bell Technical Solutions during my short time there I was awarded two awards for outstanding customer service which is only awarded to technicians who achieve 50 perfect services in a row. While there I was also the lead hand for 10 other technicians whom I would help in between
my installs, or while completing mine with help over the phone.
How it all started
I started working with electronics at 9 years old, building computers, working with hardware configs, debugging and developing solutions. I’m an analytical forward thinker, who loves to identify and create solutions to extremely complex and time-critical problems.
I spend most of my time studying and self-educating. One of my all-time favourite things to do is, learn. I’ve built PCs for myself along with multiple PCs for others. I have since then furthered my knowledge in the IT industry and educated myself with a variety of electrical/robotics engineering courses. I want to learn as much about the world of computers and Robots as possible. I am comfortable working by myself and managing my own time, to make sure the job gets done correctly and efficiently. Along with excellent group work skills.
I’m interested in furthering my career in the Industry. I am a hard worker who can learn new skills and programs fast and won’t stop until the job is done. I feel that given the field experience, I would excel and grow to become a well-versed Senior Security Engineer.
